OUTPOURING OF GRATITUDE AND LOVE
How do I say thank you?
When I put my mental health problems on social media, the outpouring of support from my friends was overwhelming. I didn't know how to say thank you, until a good friend showed me a video of Lori Portka's project to make a 100 paintings for people she was grateful for in her life. I knew immediately I had to do something like this and my mind sped to find a way to give it my own spin.
Abstract art seems hard to personalize, but I have been making paintings for important people in my life and I have completed 130ish and it's time to stop. I know I will forget or miss people, but I am so surrounded by wonderful people, I am never going to reach them all.
So how do I personalize abstract? Each painting has been made with intention for the recipient - colours, technique, vision or has a title that ties the painting to a memory or quality of the person for whom I made the painting for.
What's the point?
I wanted to have an art show to display my work and the recipients could pick up their pieces at the show, but COVID saved me from a very difficult thing to organize.
Instead, I delivered and mailed them to everyone and made myself a book to commemorate all the pieces.
