Here is art in Real Life

I love this record - Heartland, by Australian band Real Life. Couldn't find it locally, bought it in Winnipeg and then saw it a couple weeks ago in the ROCKTOBER bins for $2 at Chilliwax. Damn! At the shop in Winnipeg I joked to the owner that he was lucky to sell it, and I was slightly embarrassed that he agreed, but I don't actually care. I can sing the whole thing word for word, and I enjoyed it tonight as much as ever. I don't have any specific memories associated with it, except that it was purchased because of the single "Send Me and Angel". I am not even sure if my family cared about it as much as I did.

Got my resin poured this evening, we will see tomorrow how it cured. I tried the product from work. It claims to stay crystal clear, and at least if it ruins my art I can get my money back on the product. The tray won't be getting a third attempt though if it fails. I am in it for too many hours to waste anymore effort and frustration. The matched set of tiles in the first picture came out really cool. They are a bit of an odd shape for a trivet, except that when the two are side by side they can be a square, and they can be separated to hold something longer, or used individually. I don't know, I like them. The picture does absolutely nothing to show the metallic greens and the depth, but I am hoping for good things with the resin top coat to really showcase the colours.

Those long skinny tiles, well, I am not totally sure what to do with those yet. I had an idea to set them in a concrete tray or something - like a neat jewelry tray. I don't know. I will invent something I'm sure.

Ornaments definitely this week. Yikes. The clock is ticking!!
