My wreath puns keep getting stupider, but I keep puttin' 'em out there.

My studio is in chaos, the kitchen is a disaster, I have no clean laundry and I just spent ages writing yesterday's blog. What could I possibly do that is more useless than to write a blog today too! I am a master procrastinator. I mean, it's the perfect thing to do after a nap. Plus, I told my mom about Acrylic and Vinyl, so now I have a potential reader! How could I let down my fan? Who knows, she may have even told my dad!
Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy - discuss ...
This album is fantastic. I like The Who, but I am not always in the mood for them. Except this album. This is my definitive Who masterpiece. Note: I had know idea this was a compilation album until after I wrote this blog. I'm not sure why it was not in our library, and I bought it today and it brought back a weird fragment of a memory. I am pretty sure we had this on prerecorded cassette. I don't know why but this album brings back this image of my parent's friend's house. Actually I think it was two friends that were rooming together at that time. Also, I remember the one friend, but I can't remember who the other friend was - there are two in my mind, maybe all three of them lived there. I can only guess that someone saw a spider and started singing Boris the Spider while we were visiting. There is a floor that is white and aging - so I hear the song and picture a fuzzy image of an old white floor. It's totally weird. But I also clearly picture my dad. We thought this song was hilarious. The ridiculously low "Bo-oris the Spider-er brought us endless amusement. Please excuse me while I go and put the record on again!
I also need to revisit an album I discussed a couple weeks ago.
The cover is different in Canada.

Kyle, superhero that he is, ordered it for me, and I listened to this as well today. I just love it, I'm so happy. PS, root beer, not beer! I don't drink and craft folks! I don't need to increase the risk factors for the number of injuries I get from sharp/hot tools
Funny story - at the record store last week, I decided I would indulge in my preschool nostalgia and buy two albums from the children's section. Fred Penner's The Cat came Back and Sharon Lois and Bram's One Elephant, Deux Elephants. Fred Penner is a family favourite, it makes me picture my sister Evelyn, although it could be Kelsey that listened to it. Hard to remember. Picturing either of them is fine, cute kids, beautiful women, so any era is lovely. In 1988 there was an animated short with a version of the song, which was fun! There was no internet then, so I think must have just a treat if we happened to find it on TV. Did you know that is original version is from 1893?!! I guess it was okay to load up your shotgun with nails and dynamite to kill a cat in a children's song back then. Oh no, that was Fred in 1979. Yikes. Believe it or not, that was not the funny part of the story! And you will find out when I get to the point, I mean "funny - peculiar" not "funny - haha", the SL&B album was not one we owned, and I thought it was the album that contained Old John Bradelum which is a really stupid song featured in Billy Madison. I discovered that it was not the right record when I got home, which is a shame, but fine, it was $5. Kyle spends way more on way far dumber stuff. So I went to put Fred on, and I got to the turntable with the record and looked and it was SL&B - what? I must have grabbed the wrong record. I go back, and yes, both jackets contained the same record. Bummer. Of all the incorrect records that could have been in that Fred Penner jacket, what are the odds it would be the exact record I bought in the same transaction!?

I finished the paintings and most of Wreath's Pieces. Wreethes Piethes. Wreath's Peathes
Hmmm. I haven't decided yet. I am very happy with my flowers. I went old school and did a straight pour and they came out very interesting with some gorgeous little surprises that developed. The wreath itself, obviously in orange and yellow is so vibrant. It looks like sunshine! Although the one on the bottom far right is my favourite, each one has something about it that I love! The bumps are tiny copper pearls, and glitter never shows well in photos.

I'm still thinking about the centres. It is really fun for me to go through my hoard of craft goodies and find the perfect way to use that little treasure I've been moving around for years! Obviously there are supplies I buy, and trust me, I buy a lot of shit, but I get the most satisfaction from finding a way to use something I already have. I do not get rid of things. It's not a hoard in that everything does have a place, and I always put it away eventually. I love making cards, I've been doing it for my whole life. I can picture a particular card that I made for my grandparents. I don't know how old I was. Maybe 6? In those days I was obsessed with cats, and my drawings were filled with them. Or I should say they were the centre of all my drawings. Anyway, in this card, I put the tail in between the legs of a front facing cat, and it had an unfortunate phallic appearance that I never understood until much later. I may have done this regularly. I think I even remember people snickering about it and I didn't get it. Sigh.
I have this thing that I can't throw away coloured or printed scrapbook paper. I save the scraps and they are filed by colour in an accordion file. I will look through my scraps and draw inspiration from a fragment of paper, and make a card using it as the base. I almost never cut into a whole sheet. Hence, I have stacks of paper that I am saving for the right special project. The exception to this rule is a giant stack of scrapbook paper (standard weight, not card stock) that I bought from Costco many years ago, and basically regretted soon after. Thin paper and outdated prints. Bleh. My sister also bought and regretted the same purchase, and she gave it to me years later, because I can't let that kind of thing go to waste even if I don't like it. I tried to give it away to a young girl into card making who didn't have a lot of resources, and she was so excited, but she took much less that I am sure she wanted to because she didn't want to seem greedy or whatever. I should have made her take it all, because that was ten years ago and I still have that shit. It's also possible she looked through it and realized it was shitty thin paper and outdated prints! Regardless, it is relegated to envelope making at this point. Speaking of points ... I forgot mine.
