The Weakness in Me

I was too unmotivated after a day of painting to blog, and I have to be honest, I forgot to put on a record anyway. It is too hard to turn them over when I am doing a big pour. However, I did enjoy Joan Armatrading's album Track Record between paintings, which is a very clever title for a greatest hits album. I don't remember seeing a Joan Armatrading record in my parent's collection although it would have had to have been either this one or Walk Under Ladders, but either cover is completely unfamiliar to me. When they got a greatest hits CD, I knew the songs The Weakness in Me and I'm Lucky. My mom loved The Weakness in Me, as do I. I know it word for word and sing it in the shower with great enthusiasm in my own private concert. It has a decent range, so I can mangle a whole spectrum of notes. The love triangle makes me slightly uncomfortable, but I just think it so beautiful. I'm Lucky was one of those songs that was very literal for me when I was a kid. I was really interested in why she was walking under ladders.

Well, I did two big pours yesterday, which didn't come out as I envisioned, but I am quite happy with them. I have two tables right now that haven't sold that I think are amazing, and it is unwise to make another table, but I was planning on just using this table top as a canvas. The problem (the weakness in me) is, that I think it would look super cool if the table had one white leg and the others were black to match the corners of the painting. This table has a bottom shelf which is important for the structure, and I thought it would look weird to have that be all black with that one white leg, so I painted it to match the first piece - I had enough leftover paint, and I am very happy with how it came out. I guess I am going to try to sell it with the hardware to hang the two pieces, and the table hardware, and the happy owner can decide what they prefer to do with it.
